The South Downs National Park Travel Grant for 2017-18 has been fully allocated. 2,000 pupils will use the travel grant to visit the South Downs National Park between April 2017 and March 2018.
The Travel Grant allows schools to claim up to £300 towards travel costs when visiting education providers on the National Park Learning Map.
All eligible schools for 2018-19 will be emailed when the travel grant opens in April 2018, the grant is awarded on a first-come first-served basis. 1 in 5 schools within and around the National Park are eligible for the grant. Eligibility is based on proximity to the National Park and the percentage of pupils eligible for Free School Meals.
Our 2014 school survey identified the cost of travel to sites as a key barrier to visiting the South Downs National Park. The Travel Grant aims to reduce this barrier, allowing more young people to have access to the fantastic learning opportunities with the South Downs National Park and to capitalise on the opportunities presented by the South Downs Curriculum.
