Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting the Field Farm Project and talking with Mollie about the exciting opportunities for young people to get out in the peaceful South Downs countryside. This tranquil spot on the superbly managed farm is a great place for children to discover the wonders of nature and become absorbed in learning through making, growing and exploring.
School groups can study many topics linked to the curriculum: from deep down, where the wild ones live, movers & shakers, native creative, into the wilds, sensory sensation and wonderful weather. Older groups can practice their field study techniques and design their own project. All students can benefit from the personal skills developed through this deeper contact with nature.
Many different groups enjoy regular visits to the farm to be creative, grow their own food in the accessible garden, learn rural skills and discover that just being outdoors brings huge benefits to well-being, self esteem, confidence and connection to nature. Peruse the Field Farm Project’s facebook page to see groups in action…
The care and attention provided to every group enables students to thrive and enjoy challenging themselves to try new things. With such an accessible site and professional staff you can be confident that the Field Farm Project will provide a rich and inspirational learning experience.
