Family Water Event
Lewes Railway Land Nature Reserve
2.00pm to 5.00pm Sunday 28th September 2014
Water, the most valuable resource in nature and to people, is the theme of a free family event at Lewes Railway Land Nature Reserve on Sunday 28th September.
Bella Bear, a character based at Lewes Railway Way Land Nature Reserve has just returned from her real-life travels in the Amazon Rainforest where she has explored the stunning rainforest and fascinating wildlife.
As a guest of Amazon Rainforest Workshops, Bella also visited several local communities, lived with the indigenous Yagua tribe and learned lots about natural medicines and respect for the forest. Bella also travelled by canoe along part of the Amazon River, encountered some amazing wildlife, learned how to use a blowgun, helped to paint a local community school and visited a tree top walk high above the forest floor. Bella also visited a project in the Amazon that is bringing much needed clean drinking water to remote villages in the area.
Sunday’s event will focus on Bella’s experiences in the Amazon with a fun and colourful presentation. Biologist and Bella’s creator Stephen will also take visitors on a guided walk (approx 3.30pm) of the nature reserve to demonstrate why the nature reserve and its freshwater habitats are so important and he will also point out some of the wildlife.
