This year, for the first time at Lewes Castle, we have added prehistory sessions to our range of workshops for schools. Lewes Castle shares its site with the Museum of Sussex Archaeology at Barbican House so we are able to use real artefacts to support handling sessions for the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. All children handle real local finds whilst exploring changes in prehistoric technology and tools. The spectacular views from top of the castle give children the opportunity to spot natural resources in the landscape and even an Iron Age hill fort. From March 2015 look out for the Bronze Age Hoard exhibition showing a selection of rare Bronze Age pieces found near Lewes and purchased by the Museum with help from South Downs National Park Authority.
